Our Philosophy
it's all about play!
Play is a child's work. It is the natural way they experience the world,
relate to others and learn. Play is a crucial and fundamental part of a
young child's growth and development.
At Gingerbread House, you will see the children building with blocks,
painting, having a tea party, looking at books, working together or alone.
They learn to express themselves, to be creative and to problem solve.
It is during these numerous activities, which we call "play", that children
develop and master important skills that are laying the foundation for future
learning such as reading, writing and arithmetic. We provide the children the
opportunity to manipulate a variety of materials and to explore their creative
abilities (through art, music, play and drama). This exploration leads to discovery
and allows our children to grow, learn and develop to their full potential.
Guidance and Discipline
It is natural that when children are learning and growing socially,
sometimes conflicts can occur. At Gingerbread House, our teachers use a problem
solving approach to resolve any conflicts. They help the children to recognize
what is happening and to generate some ideas for solutions to these problems.
When the children are a part of the process it gives them the confidence to deal
with any hurdles. Also, they learn to trust adults and get help when needed.
